October 21-23, 2022
If you’re a writer who’s been feeling stuck and who's ready to melt back into your creative flow, then join us October 21-23 for a Pennsylvania mountain retreat and come away with new work, new friends, and new joy in your writing.
Lying on the yoga platforms, surrounded by tall, leafy trees, birdsong carried by the gentle breeze, you breathe your way into a state of bliss…
…where, feeling centered for the first time in a long time, a poem starts to take shape in your mind, or it finally strikes you what your character needs to do next in your story, or the essay you had set aside starts to thrill you again. You dig in and write!
When you’re ready for a break, you hike through nearby Buchanan State Forest, immersing yourself in nature. Or you feel like you need some creative play, so you make a collage or paint something abstract. Or you rest in a comfy hammock in the trees, simply being.
At the end of the day, you sit by the fire, laughing with new friends, toasting marshmallows and making s’mores. You’ve never felt more you!
You yearn to write, and you know you could create something AMAZING if you did. You just… don’t.
You’re never happier than when you write, but you can’t seem to get yourself to do it.
You’ve been telling yourself, “I’ll get some writing done, WHEN…”– when you get caught up at work, when your kid’s soccer season is over, when you get your place cleaned up – but there’s always another WHEN.
You’re run down, maybe even burned out, and unfortunately, your creativity was the first thing to dry up.
It’s 3 days of breathwork, creative play, writing time, camaraderie, and FUN–something we all desperately need after the last two years.
You’ll instantly feel yourself sigh with relief as you arrive at the River Mountain resort in Everett, PA. This mountain escape blends modern amenities, the comforts of home, and the beauty of the outdoors.
We’ll be doing breathwork on the outdoor yoga platforms, making art in the airy, Amish-built barn, swaying in the hammocks in the trees.
We’ll toast with local craft beers and wines or sparkling non-alcoholic concoctions in the historic log cabin, where we’ll also enjoy delicious, home-cooked, made-to-order meals.
And, bordering the Buchanan State Forest, River Mountain is the perfect base for a peaceful hike during our unstructured time.
If all you needed was a little creative structure, you could take a course. And if all you needed was time to yourself, you could book a spa weekend at a lovely hotel (sometimes we all need that!).
But what you crave is space to transform your creative practice, which is why Breathe/Heal/Write combines daily breathwork and meditation with enough activity to stimulate your creativity, plus enough free time to let it lead you where you need to go.
Top that off with connecting to other smart, interesting, creative humans, and your weekend retreat is complete!
Daily transformational breathwork is at the heart of this retreat. What do I mean by “breathwork,” you ask? Well, the form I teach is a type of conscious circular breathing, which is a fancy way of saying that we don't pause between breaths, which take the form of two inhales and an exhale.
The accelerated breath increases oxygen levels in the bloodstream, which in turn activates different areas of the brain, creating new neural pathways and shifting you into an altered state of consciousness.
Breathwork takes you to the center of yourself. What happens there depends on what you need. If you need answers, you will find clarity. If you need peace, you will find rest. If you need healing, you will find wholeness. If you need transcendence, you will touch the Divine. But whatever happens, you will leave breathwork feeling refreshed, uplifted, and more you.
Breathwork was instrumental in activating my creativity after years of writer's block, which led to me developing breathwork processes specifically for writers and artists.
Three invigorating days together, with daily breathwork sessions, creative play, heart-to-heart connection, and plenty of time for writing!

I deeply believe that you doing your creative work makes the world richer, more beautiful, more whole.
It kills me when you’re stuck, because not only are we missing out on the novels, poems, stories, essays, or screenplays that you were meant to make, you are missing out on the experience of making it, of feeling like you are fully alive and doing exactly what you were made to do.
So it’s my passion and mission to give writers like you who are overwhelmed, stuck, blocked, or simply not writing a way back into their work, whether that’s through coaching, programs, or fabulous retreats like this one!
Because I get it. I’ve been there. I had writer’s block for almost five solid years–until I finally found my way out through a combination of breathwork, community, creative play, and other techniques.
Now I partner with folks like you in your creative activation using that same constellation of tools, techniques, and resources that helped guide me back to myself.
